The Collection
The Wings of Freedom Aviation Museum maintains one of the most significant collections of statically displayed historic aircraft in Pennsylvania, spanning from World War I through the War in Afghanistan. Ranked in the top three civil and military aviation museums in the Commonwealth based on number of historical aircraft on display.
Indoor Collection
Beyond the aircraft, the museum's indoor collection includes nearly 40 display cases covering World War I through contemporary aviation. Artifacts include flight helmets, vintage and modern flight gear, air-to-air missiles, Martin-Baker ejection seats, military service medals, engines, over 200 hand-crafted scale models, flight simulators, a Norden bombsight, high-altitude flight gear, and Tuskegee Airmen documentation.

Restoration
The museum's all-volunteer restoration team is currently restoring the Chance-Vought F7U-3 Cutlass and the Sikorsky UH-34J Sea Bat. Most recently completed: exterior restoration of the P-3B Orion and F-4A Phantom, both now back on display.

The Pitcairn Legacy
On April 8, 1931, Amelia Earhart flew a Pitcairn PCA-2 autogyro to an altitude of 18,415 feet over Willow Grove — Horsham, Pennsylvania, setting a world altitude record. Harold F. Pitcairn's development of the articulating rotorhead established this site as the birthplace of rotary winged flight. The museum stands on the grounds of the original Pitcairn aircraft factory. The museum's 1931 Pitcairn PA-8 Super Mailwing, restored by Posey Brothers Inc. in 1998 and previously owned by Steven Pitcairn, is among the rarest aircraft in the collection. Actor Steve McQueen owned a PA-8 during his lifetime.
