5 MAY 1978: Indonesia purchases 14 A-4E and 2 TA-4H Skyhawks that replaced the T-33A.

4 MAY 1980 to SEP 1980: First Skyhawks arrive at Tanjung Priok Harbour in Jakarta and the final Skyhawks are presented to the public on Armed Forces Day 5 OCT 1980

14 MAY 1980 to SEP 1980: They became operational with SKU-11 at Hasanuddin Air Base near Ujung Pandang.

DEC 1980: Five Skadron Udara 11 A-4E to Mokmer on Biak and then on to Bacucau in East Timor.

31 MAR 1981: Skyhawk TT-0407 lost during exercise Latgab ABRI 1981 near Baucau in East Timor. Pilot Kapten Pnb Suminar was recovered. Aircraft TT-047 was replaced by TT-0417

NOV 1983: TNI-AU Skyhawks were used in an offensive against the "FReTILin" during the war in East Timor. They were also used in support of TNI troops pursuing "OPM" guerrillas into Papus New Guinea. At least one Indoensia A-4E displayed "twenty bomb mission" markings at an airfield presentation.

NOV 1992: Twenty-Eigth Skyhawks are operational in two squadrons, SKU-11 and SKU-12.

07 FEB 1994 to 25 AUG 1995: Eleven surviving SkU-12 Skyhawks were consolidated into SKU-11 at Hasanuddin. SKU-12 moves to flying the Hawk 100 / 200

05 OCT 1995: In a flyby at the 50th aniversary of Armed Forces Day at Perdanakusuma, these Skyhawks were involved: TA-4H TL-0416, A-4E TT-0402, 0405, 0410, 0411, 0412, 0433, 0435, 0438, 0440, 0442, 0442, 0444, 0436 and 0437. The last two a/c were still in their SkU-12 markings.

07 FEB 1994 to 25 AUG 1995: Eleven surviving SkU-12 Skyhawks were consolidated into SKU-11 at Hasanuddin. SKU-12 moves to flying the Hawk 100 / 200

1999: Two TA-4J Aircraft, TL-0418 (BuNo.154315) and TL-0419 (BuNo.158454), purchased in 1998. Shipped from AMARC Davis-Monthan AFB in Arizona on July 6 1998. Arrived in New Zealand on Aug 7 1998 for refurb by Safe Air Ltd. Refurb completed on June 1999, and official hand-over was done on October 1 1999 during "Kesaktian Pancasila" ceremonial day.

10 FEB 2003: TL-0419 is involved in an accident. Due to parts shortages, only four or five Skyhawks are operational.

05 AUG 2004: Skyhawks were officially retired and replaced by Russian Su-27SK and Su-30M "Flanker" aircraft. They are, however, occasionally flown (JUN 2007) for training and other purposes. The retirement flyover was with TT-0440 and TL-0416 piloted by Kolonel Pnb Sulistyo (Thunder 71) and Mayor Pnb Singgih (Thunder 110) and was conducted over Hasanuddin. The Museum at Adisucipto received TT-0440 and TL-0416.

 BuNo 158454 was shipped to the Republic of Indonesia Air Force and refurbished as TT-0419 by Safe Air Ltd. MAY02. It served with SKU.11 up to 05 AUG 2004 when it was stored. In Y2007 it was marked as 'Unserviceable'.
