OCT 1973:
The unit has a small number of A-4E aircraft on hand when the Yom Kippur War starts, and was not yet operational.

06 OCT 1973: The Golden Eagle Squadron become fully operational flying A-4E aircraft.

14 APR 1974: The Golden Eagle Squadron makes its first combat missions in the Mount Hermon sector, in northern Israeli.

MAY 1976: The unit receives the A-4N Skyhawk and transfers its A-4Es to the Flying Tiger Squadron.

NOV 1981: The squadron moves to Ramon AFB. At this time the unit was conducing the IDF/AF's fighter OTU (Operational Training Unit) course and was the largest IDF/AF fighter squadron. They flew 40 plus A-4E, A-4N and TA-4 Skyhawks.

1986: Unit converts to the F-16A/B.
